Have you discovered your "cushion of calm at the center of your life, where you live in union" with Christ? (72)
As a young teenager, I recall mom encouraging me to go to my room, quiet my heart and seek God, especially when I was overwhelmed with things. That became such a beneficial discipline. It is still a strong soul-anchor that I continue to practice. Time alone with God is the sweet solitude that strengthens me to move into my very busy, relational life. Since my life is basically a series of interactions with others, returning to my "cushion of calm" helps to anchor, level and empower me.
I love Isaiah 30:15b - "You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence."

I can't imagine how people get through these crazy days without the calmness of Jesus and having that quiet place to go. Even on days when everything seems to go wrong, I know I can run to Jesus and He is ALWAYS there!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Ray Bolt song. The Anchor Holds!
