My Agenda...Simplicity!

"Accept the limitations of living one day at a time. When something comes to your attention, ask Me whether or not it is part of today's agenda. If it isn't, release it...When you follow this practice, there will be a beautiful simplicity about your life..." (92)
Releasing is so freeing, yet so foreign to many of us who feel responsible to plan ahead and organize every detail. I search for balance in this area of my own life; recognizing the necessity of vision without applying wisdom can create overwhelming confusion.

  1. I'm a planner! When things didn't go the way I had planned them I used to get upset, frustrated and even mad. Then God showed me I needed to be more flexible and spontaneous. My life became so much simpler once I learned how to go with the flow. Now when I plan something I sit back and watch how God can change those plans so His will is done.

    Along for the ride!

  2. I am a planner and organizer also. This is definitely one area of my life where I still need a lot of work! I am better about it, but still have a way to go. One thing I admire about the phlegmatic personality is that they are able to just go with the flow. Of course, at times it is frustrating to a choleric, or Type A personalilty:) That's why we need each other, and why God made us all different. Keeps life from not being too boring!

  3. I have two kids that are going through life changing experiences right now. This mornings devotional has hit hard. As a mother I have a tendency to want to fix everything for them. I can't fix these things.(I have tried)Please Pray for Guidance for me to just let go & give him full control. I have faith an I know he can do it. Why am I having such a hard time letting go? Any scriptures I can lean on?

  4. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

This is the one I look to when I know I can't change things. Also We live by faith, not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7.

  6. The following verse has been a great source of encouragement to me when it comes to raising kids. “But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.” (2 Tim 1:12, HCSB)
Being "persuaded that He is able to guard" the precious lives He's "entrusted" to us gives me the extra peace and confidence as I wait for "that day" to arrive!
I love the corresponding hymn, "I Know Whom I Have Believed." Some theologians would like there to be a slight change in the wording, making the hymn even more technically correct, according to the Greek. Either way...the hymn has blessed me. Here's the altered version:
But I know whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which He's committed
    Unto me against that day.
The bottom line...God is the One who IS ABLE to "keep" our kids for His Glory!
