Camouflaged in Challenge

"Your weakness is designed to open you up to My Power. Therefore, do not fear your limitations or measure the day's demands against your strength... When I allow difficulties to come into your life, I equip you fully to handle them." (141)
To me weaknesses and difficulties are kind of like miniature doorways. Doorways that cause me to have to kneel down and slowly crawl through, in order to get to the other side. And what's on the other side?  A spacious Son-lit soul in a peaceful mind-scape that embraces, encourages and glorifies God.  How is this possible?  Jesus said, "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." (John 10:9).
Some doorways are more like long, dark, enclosed thresholds, silent and suffocating. As I slowly inch my way along, in the midst of the crawl, I am surprised to discover hidden tools that equip, assist and sustain me. Tools I would have missed, if I had not been on my knees! These tools are not easily uncovered because they are camouflaged in challenge. With each tool, I discover more power, more strength, more insight. While this is not my favorite journey I know Christ sustains me and I do like the end result...

  1. I love your word picture of missing the tools God provided for your assistance had you not been on your knees during the challenge (weakness). That is so true! And each time I see His Hand at work, it does empower me, increasing my faith and perserverance to continue knowing He is by my side guiding and giving me His strength to continue on.

  2. Thanks, Carolynn...I've been spending more time "on my knees," if not always literally, at least in my heart, with the loss of Daddy. New adjustments and new tools to tackle what's ahead! God is Good!

  3. I spent time yesterday with a friend that's on a24 hour care with hospice. This precious lady is tired of hanging on and told me she is ready to be with Jesus. We sang together "In the Garden" and she softly sang every word. I'm on my knees for her today....

  5. I am enjoying having found this site very much. thank you for facilitating this. I was just yesterday reminded that the only strength and direction that is true and that works is found by turning to The Lord. I had been scrabbling around on another website trying desperately to find answers and support when it all of a sudden came to me to go back to my Jesus Calling devotional. And there was the reminder to turn around and take His hand and rest. And then to let Him put the tools into my grasping hands that He knows will do the job!
