Practicing His presence is a state of spiritual awareness I want to "practice" a whole lot more! Much like developing a skill, I want to develop the discipline of an embracing focus on Him and on the truths of scripture, more than embracing the realities of this deeply flawed and spiritually fallen world. My heart resonates with Moses' request... When Moses asked God to teach him His ways and for His favor, God responds, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Ex. 33:1 God could have given him many other things... but instead He promised REST!
There is a kind of restlessness that comes when a relationship is in question... when the love has been compromised or contaminated. However, God's presence is all about a most pure and perfect love that allows the heart to be at ease, the mind to be at peace and the soul to be at rest.
It's Practice Time...time to practice resting in His loving Presence...dmc

When I have doubts and begin to question things, I am always brought back to the Romans 8 scripture that says, "Nothing will be able to separate me from the love of God"!How wonderful to know that God will NEVER leave me or forsake.
ReplyDeleteAmen Kay! Dawn Marie you reminded me of a wonderful story one of the ladies in our bible study group shared. Go to:
ReplyDeletehttp://yokedforlife.net/
and click on story at the top of the page.
It gave me a new understanding of how God's presence is with me and how He can give me rest.
Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." NASB
Matthew 11:28-30
Oh, my, Melissa...did you know that the "Jimmy Johnson" spoken of in the Yoked for Life story, pastored our church for a few years in the 80's. When I was a teenager, he was the speaker at a Youth Camp I attended in Rapid City, SD in the early 70's. Over the years Joe and I enjoyed his ministry and deeply appreciate the rich legacy he gave our church! Kay may remember him, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat insights!!
Melissa,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the “yoke for life” website. Matthew 11:28-30 is my life verse and was the turning point for me several years ago. I actually shared my personal story about those verses in our ladies’ Open Share group last night at Celebrate Recovery. After reading Melody’s story on the “yoke for life” website I decided to order a couple of the yoke pendants. I kept getting an error message and so I called the listed number. God is so awesome, I ended up connecting with Melody herself and we shared some of our personal stories. Thank you God for websites that You temporarily disable when two sisters need to connect. Yoked to Him for life while resting in His Presence…
