His gentle "holy whispers" can come in the most unlikely ways and unexpected times. However, I've discovered that when I whisper praise or a prayer to Him, He will often whisper back to me! It's a wonderful exchange of love that "cannot be measured or explained, but it can be experienced." It's an expression of His love that is so "wide and long and high and deep" that it can fully cover and carry us! (Eph. 3:16-19)
As I started to read today's devotional, this Untitled Hymn by Chris Rice whelmed up in my heart.

Let's "Come to Jesus" all day long...dmc
Chris Rice - Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus) Lyrics
Weak and wounded sinner/Lost and left to die/O, raise your head, for love is passing by/Come to Jesus/Come to Jesus/Come to Jesus and live! Now your burden's lifted/And carried far away/And precious blood has washed away the stain, so Sing to Jesus/Sing to Jesus/Sing to Jesus and live!
And like a newborn baby/Don't be afraid to crawl/And remember when you walk-sometimes we fall...so Fall on Jesus/Fall on Jesus/Fall on Jesus and live!
Sometimes the way is lonely/And steep and filled with pain/So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then Cry to Jesus/Cry to Jesus/Cry to Jesus and live!
O, and when the love spills over/And music fills the night/And when you can't contain your joy inside, then Dance for Jesus/Dance for Jesus/Dance for Jesus and live!
And with your final heartbeat/Kiss the world goodbye/Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side, and Fly to Jesus/Fly to Jesus/Fly to Jesus and live!
Shhh do you hear that? Hear his quiet whispers. Don't move, close your eyes. Feel His presence within. "Open yourself to My loving Presence, so I may fill you with My fullness." (234)
ReplyDeleteDawn Marie that song always gives me goose bumps. I love Chris Rice.
(I couldn't get your site to work.)That song is on one of the Children's church DVD's and it has kids singing it with actions. Beautiful!

"This vast ocean of Love cannot be measured or explained, but it can be experienced." I love this quote! It also conjured up memories of looking at the ocean. Like Dawn said earlier in the week, I too love watching the ocean, but have a little fear of it. But, when I watch the ocean, it is so calming yet strong; always reminds me of the power and Love of God. I also just like to stand and listen. So many times I hear God speaking to me, drawing me closer to Him.
ReplyDeleteThat's for the additional site option. I will use that, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteYes, Kay...Enjoy the ocean of His Love...dmc
"Come" is used four times in one verse so it's emphasis is clear. The last part of the verse resonated in my heart as I read the scriptures cited in this devotional. "...If you are thirsty, come! If you want life-giving water, come and take it. It's free!" Revelation 22:17 (CEV) In this current struggling economy this precious human need is FREE! Free for you and me. What an invitation and promise!
ReplyDeleteI like the song you cited too!
