Graced with Gratitude

"Walk purposefully...letting Me direct...one step at a time...a grateful heart protects you from negative thinking." (58)
Negative thinking is highly toxic (see January 16 blog) and can paralyze productivity and purpose. The enemy may not get us to walk away from God, but if he can get us to walk away from a grateful mindset, we will walk away from our purpose and from fulfilling God's will for our lives. (I Thes. 5:18) Thus, achieving his greater goal to get us to walk away from God's will for each of our lives.
Daily walking in gratitude establishes us the center of God's Will! What a privileged place to be!

  1. "Do not bolt into the day like a racehorse suddenly released." I know the days I do this I feel rushed with feelings of panic. God's peace seems to be put by the wayside. This allows for negative thinking to creep in and believe me it does! However if I "devote myself to prayer" each morning, I am able to walk in His will and "give thanks in all circumstances", for God takes me by the hand and walks me through each part of my day.

  2. "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."

    Psalm 37:23

This was my daily scripture I get through email!

  3. Today’s devo immediately brought to mind the song: Give Thanks by Don Moen

Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the Holy One,
    Give thanks, because He’s given
    Jesus Christ…His Son!

    And now...

Let the weak say I am strong,
Let the poor say I am rich,
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
    Give Thanks.

  4. This past week, the Lord has been impressing upon my heart the word, "Order." Walking purposefully is all about ordering our steps according to the example Jesus demonstrated in His lifestyle as well as His words.

"For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps..." 1Pet 2:21

As Prov 16:1 expresses--"The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps."

I am called to intentionally live out what Jesus and the Word teaches, it is my choice to yield and follow in the path He will direct me to take.

I know when I choose to follow, it allows me to rest in His presence in the process.

What a wise and caring God we have to want to protect us in and about our daily musings and doings, while furthering us along in our life journey toward Him.

  5. That reminds me of when mom would "direct" me and my sisters to write thank you notes for various gifts or kindnesses we had received. Living a life of gratitude toward God is much like little thank you notes we give Him throughout our day!
    Good reminder...thanks!
