Gift Wrapped Days

"Each new day is a gift..."(124) However, some days do not SEEM like a gift! They are wrapped in heaviness and maybe even profound sadness. It reminds me of the White Elephant Christmas gift exchange we do each year. We've discovered that the best gifts can often be found wrapped in the more unappealing paper.

  1. “LET ME TEACH YOU THANKFULNESS.” (124) And God is doing just that! I used to take a lot of things for granted like having free time. Now when I have a chance to work in my yard, I am thankful or when I have time to clean my house, I am thankful. When I have time to play games with my kids, I am thankful. I am now even thankful for how busy our schedule is because my family is serving God and spending time together! All my possessions, all that I am and even my time belongs to God. They are all gifts He has given me to cherish and use for His glory. God has revealed to me, with little things here and there, how limited my time is here on earth and everything I have (and even don’t have) is for a reason. But what I am really thankful for is my family is growing spiritually!

My gift today was the scripture from Hebrews. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire” Hebrews 12:28-29

What stood out for me was, “a kingdom that cannot be shaken”. God can give me an unshakable foundation by burning all my impurities from me. Now that is something to be thankful for!!!
