It's Happening...Change!

"The world you inhabit is a place of constant changes...even the body you inhabit is changing relentlessly...however, I am the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8 (237)
Change is so dichotomous, sometimes comforting, sometimes distressing. I was quite captured with the myriad of changes that were involved in raising children. First of all, I was amazed how my own body changed to accommodate the growing new life within me, during pregnancy. Then, observing the necessary changes for normal development from infancy to childhood totally captured us, keeping us quite entertained! But to successfully raise a human from childhood to adulthood requires the ability to be flexible, yet firm, in navigating their own unprecedented changes...of mind, clothes, friends, hair, moods, whatever!
Change impacts our lives continually. Sometimes change is amazing, sometimes it is assaulting. Certainly the changes that come with the typical aging process can be quite distressing, even demoralizing.
I am comforted in knowing that Jesus is the "rock-solid foundation" that never changes. He's the constant, reliable anchor that gives reassurance no matter what has happened, is happening or will happen.
Anchored in Him...dmc

  1. Yes, the changes that come with aging are distressing and demoralizing “(to weaken the confidence or morale of” –American Heritage Dictionary)--Confidence that I can open a sealed jar with my weakened hands, confidence that I can walk across the room without falling, confidence that I can prepare a simple meal within a reasonable time. All these things have become a challenge when I used to multi-task without thinking. What a change!
But, I “have nothing to fear, because I am with you for all time and throughout eternity.” “You are always the same. Years cannot change you.” Psalm 102:27
Phrases from old hymns pop into my mind. “Be very sure your anchor holds and grips the solid rock. …this Rock is Jesus, the only one…” and the old hymn titled I’VED ANCHORED IN JESUS. It’s a little “old-fashioned” but here’s a copy and paste link to a solo where the words are easy to understand:

  2. Thanks, Amelia, for sharing your thoughts, the Psalm and the precious old hymn. The words are as powerful today as they have ever been! Incidentally, your body may be aging, but your heart is ageless! I love that! :)
