The other evening Joe and I were sharing with a discouraged young father. He was experiencing what so many have wrestled with - even when we are "walking the path" and trying to seek God's will, life can become so overwhelming and very discouraging. Our hearts hurt deeply for him.
It is good that one generation speaks encouragement into the following generation. These are perilous times and we desperately need each other as we wait on God's answers and intervention! The "chosen" path does not always feel privileged...we must rally to support each other as we 'herald the reality of His glorious Presence.'

Yes, walking the privileged and perilous path He has chosen for me is certainly challenging and discouraging at times. Recently I was with a family gathering that should have been a pleasant time of enjoying each others company but it turned into a time of complaining, bickering and angry accusations. It is my nature to strive to be a peacemaker. This morning as I read the familiar Galatians 5:22-23 scripture I wondered if I lived up to those standards. The CEV translation says it this way: “God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.” Am I always "…happy, peaceful…self-controlled…?” I pray that my behavior will be a positive influence in such situations
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amelia, for sharing that particular translation of the Fruit of the Spirit. The kind of Fruit we all desperately desire...especially after being in situations where the Fruit of the Flesh (Gal.5:19-21)is in operation. I've experienced that same kind of "fleshy fruit" dilemma. Not a good experience!
