Fixed, Focused & Fine

"Instead of trying to "fix" yourself, fix your gaze on Me, the Lover of your soul. Rather than using your energy to judge yourself, redirect it to praising Me. Remember that I see you clothed in My Righteousness, radiant in My perfect Love." (204)
There are so many things I would love to "fix" about myself... flaws, oddities... or things that just annoy me about myself! But keeping my focus on me is such a waste of energy. I find that I am a much healthier, happier, helpful person when I "fix my eyes on Jesus the source and perfecter of my faith." (Heb. 12:2) He keeps the scenery of my soul sweeter and much more satisfying... after all, He is "fixing" my faith... and "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!" (Heb. 11:1)
Getting Fixed Up...dmc

  1. I have wasted so much energy in my lifetime trying to "fix" myself. Much of the preaching I grew up hearing was about "fixing" myself so that I could be pleasing to God. Since my childhood somewhere deep down in my "heart" I have felt that was impossible. Through the years I have slowly moved toward the concept expressed in today's devotional. Thank you Jesus that you see me clothed in your righteousness.

  2. Having been told while growing up that girls are stupid and worthless (and having been shown by the actions of a parent that this was "true) I had just given up. How could I fix something that was so broken? Then about 3 years ago God kept whispering to me that I was special not stupid...he's the ONLY ONE who could have "fixed" me. Woo hoo for God's tools!
    I love Proverbs 3:5-6

  4. Ladies, FIX YOURSELVES! Jesus is not a "mother's little helper" pill. God is not your servant. YOU are the servant of all. How sad that people are looking for the false gospel of ease and comfort!
