Today's devo says "Save your best striving for seeking My Face... Anything that you desire more than Me becomes an idol." (71)
We live in a generation of obsessions. Simple interests or dreams can become overwhelming desires that stir us to "striving." Some are good, some are bad and some start out good and become bad!
It reminds me of the award winning show "American Idol." While it both amazed and amused many of us, the search for a superstar soloist continued to appeal to our desire to see a worthy, obscure, least-likely take center stage. When the underdog went over the top we were overwhelmed...with cheers...and tears!!
This also reminds me of what God often does with those who "seek His face." He can do amazing things with an obscure, least-likely who faithfully keeps Him the focus and the center stage of life.
Psalm 24:6 speaks of the "generation of those who seek Him, who seek the face of God." One thing we know about a God-seeking generation...they climb "the mountain of the Lord."(Ps. 24:3)
They become God's superstars, not by kneeling at some altar of idolatry, but by diligently seeking His Face! So, today, I'm inspired to do some...
