Trained to Tune Out

"I am training you to find Me in each moment and to be a channel of My loving Presence...you can know My goodness only through your trust in Me. Understanding will fail you, but trust will keep you close to Me." (94)
This devotional thought from today's reading brings to mind how I've tried to wrestle through doubtful and fearful thoughts.  During these times I sense that I am lacking something, even if it is simply an understanding of what is. REALLY happening. I've discovered my assignment, at that moment, while quite challenging, is simply... to "tune out other voices...(in order) to dwell in Peace all day, every day!"  To "dwell in peace"  indicates that we "settle into" peace, tuning out the noises, voices and other things that confuse or complicate, in order to "settle into" God's peace. That's when His Peace corrals my worrisome, wandering thoughts.  His Peace tunes out the distracting roar and lets me simply focus on HIM.  Ah yes, even now, I am...
Moving into a restful, peaceful mindset...dmc

  1. I've always been one who asked lots of questions because I want to know HOW things work, and WHY things are organized in a certain way. But understanding definitely fails at times. Today's devotional reminds me that TRUST in GOD is my primary focus. I like the idea of "settling in" to peace!

  2. This post is for yesterday’s devo as I was traveling and had no internet access. I really liked the Col 3:15 verse where Paul says, “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” The word rule comes from the language of athletics. Paul is saying to let Christ’s peace be the umpire or referee in our hearts. Our hearts are the center of conflict b/c there is where our desires and feelings clash—fears/hopes, jealousy/love, trust/distrust, etc. Paul encourages us to decide between conflicting elements by using the rule of peace. In today’s language, what a great “rule of thumb” to live by! Sorry this post is in the wrong spot, but wanted to share about the ref in my heart :) Now I must read today’s devo . . . you may see me again shortly.
